Wonderful Galungan Day - Balinese Holiday

Wonderful Galungan Day, A Full Day of Praying

Galungan is a holy day for Hindus, especially in Bali. Today is a very happy day for Hindus where they celebrate it throughout the island of Bali by making prayers in holy places. Indeed, Galungan Day is a day of victory for Dharma (good) with Adharma (Bad). In this case, Hindus in Bali celebrate it over the victory of good / good deeds / good qualities over bad/bad qualities. Therefore, they all come to holy places to pray to worship the greatness of God (Ida Shang Hyang Whidi Wasa). They are grateful for the gift that has been given by their god and always pray that their area is safe and peaceful.

Galungan Day Celebration with Penjor Decoration

There is one tradition prevailing throughout this island on the Galungan Day. Where each house put a Penjor in front of the entrance to their yard. Penjor is a majesty of God that got inspiration from Mount Agung. Decorations of young coconut leaves and fruits adorn the Penjor, so it looks very beautiful. Meanwhile, there is a place of worship (altar) made of bamboo standing under Penjor. At this altar, Hindus offer offerings in the form of flowers, food, etc. This is a form of gratitude to their god. From each curve/form of decoration from Penjor has their respective philosophies. This at the same time has very high artistic value and local wisdom.
